GANGTOK,: Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) today started a 'CRH Manipal Cares Multi-speciality Polyclinic, Pharmacy and Wellness Centre’, at 5th Mile Tadong here. The facility was inaugurated by SMU vice chancellor Lt. General (Retd) Rajen S. Grewal and CRH medical superintendent Dr. Yogesh Verma.
Addressing media, vice chancellor Grewal said that the policlinic is their sincere effort to bring specialized quality healthcare services closer to the people with ease of laboratory investigations including health check-ups. It will be the one-stop destinations for multi-speciality consultations, walk-in pharmacy and laboratory tests, he added.
The wide range of OPD services offered are medicine, paediatric, obstetrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmology, psychiatry and dermatology.
“The rationale behind the policlinic is to bridge the gap between hospital visits, reduce the consultation time and provide patients with more value-added, accessible and efficiently coordinated OPD care,” said Grewal.
“The facilities available are easily accessible and comprehensive healthcare services, with high benchmark of professional excellence. The availability of experience and well-qualified specialists will enhance healthcare delivery to the community. The initiative will allow easy access to specialists and tertiary care services, particularly for the elderly and differently-abled populace, including pregnant ladies and children.”
The policlinic and OPD will operate daily from 9 am to 5 pm whereas the patients can also book their slots on payment basis with specialists of their choice for consultation in the 7:30-9 am morning slot and 5-7:30 pm evening slot.
MS Dr. Verma said the polyclinic will also act as a sample collection centre and people need not visit hospital for the same. All kind of test facilities will be available in the polyclinic itself, he added.
