GANGTOK,(IPR): The three-day-long State Level
Science Exhibition 2025 concluded today at the auditorium of Tashi Namgyal
Senior Secondary School (TNSSS), Gangtok. The closing day was attended by
Education minister Raju Basnett as the chief guest.
The theme for this year’s exhibition,
“STEM for Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat,” aimed to embody India’s vision of
achieving self-reliance through indigenous scientific innovation and progress.
A total of 56 schools participated in
this year’s event, comprising 49 Government and 7 Private schools. DIET
College, Burtuk also participated as a non-competitive team. The three-day
event was organised by the State Council of Educational Research and Training
(SCERT) in collaboration with the Education Department, Government of Sikkim.
In his keynote address, minister Raju
Basnett expressed appreciation for the dedication and teamwork that contributed
to the success of the exhibition. He applauded the students for their
creativity and innovative projects, and urged them to bring forth more original
ideas when representing Sikkim at the national level.
The minister encouraged Generation Alpha
students to go beyond classroom learning and make full use of their curiosity
and youthful energy. He highlighted the continuous support extended to students
by the State Government under the farsighted leadership of Chief Minister Prem
Singh Tamang, and urged them to take full advantage of various educational
schemes and scholarships available.
In his concluding remarks, the minister
extended best wishes to the top five schools selected to represent Sikkim at
the North East Science Fair in Guwahati and congratulated all participants for
their enthusiasm.
RSBVP coordinator Parijit Sutradhar
elaborated on the exhibition’s themes and sub-themes and informed that the top
five schools would get the opportunity to showcase their projects at the
regional level in Guwahati.
During the programme, graduate teachers
Arpana Chettri and Prayash Subba shared their experiences of the event,
expressing gratitude to SCERT for providing a platform that fosters creativity,
enthusiasm, and a passion for science among students. They also shared that
participating in the exhibition inspired them to better guide their students in
future scientific endeavours.
The panel of judges, Prof. B.C. Kusre
(CAEPHT, Ranipool) and Dependra Chettri (lecturer, ATTC Bardang), shared their
observations and noted the challenge of selecting the top 10 schools, given the
high quality of all presentations. They encouraged students to continue
pursuing innovation and contribute to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

ten schools, while the top three schools received trophies from the chief guest.

secretary Tashi Chophel Lepcha, Education principal director Sonam Denzongpa,
SCERT director Dr Rabin Chettri, chief education officer (Gangtok) Chemi Donka
Denzongpa, SCERT additional director Tshering Lhamu Bhutia, TNSSS principal
Saroja Pradhan, SCERT deputy director Karma Doma Kaleon, school teachers, and
students.
