CM attends Trimurti Maha Shivratri celebrations at Brahma Kumaris Centre

GANGTOK, : Chief Minister PS Golay along with his spouse Krishna Kumari Rai on Thursday attended the 89th Trimurti Maha Shivratri celebrations organised by the Brahma Kumaris, Gangtok here at the Brahma Kumaris Centre premises, Development Area.

The celebration also had the presence of SLA deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, Gangtok MLA Delay Namgyal Barfungpa, GMC deputy Mayor Tshering Palden Bhutia, former minister GM Gurung, retired secretaries and invited guests.

At the outset, the Chief Minister hoisted the flag of Brahma Kumaris at the Santi Kund and the programme began with lighting of the lamps.

Addressing the celebration, the Chief Ministerextended Shivratri greetings to all the Brahma Kumaris across State, nation and the globe. He sharedthat the Brahma Kumaris in the State have been carrying out commendable service with regards to spirituality,education and humanity.

“The Brahma Kumaris have been dedicatedly working towards Nasha Mukta Bharat Mission. I feel one need to bring about change in oneself first, practice the change and then only propagate. Without implementing the ideas what one preaches is not practical,” expressed the Chief Minister.

Golay called upon the people to serve the needy, poor, society and the State at large as all these deeds will give a true meaning of living a human life.  Our government has prioritized cleanliness in the State and I have directed all the heads of departments and district collectors to take the necessary steps, he said.

The Chief Minister pointed out though the State government has notified awards for cleanliness in urban and rural areas but till date, Gangtok being the capital has failed to achieve a good position while all the heads of State and departments reside in the capital. Again I urge the cleanliness in capital Gangtok to be given top priority, he said.

“Recently, we have also ordered that there should be clean and hygienic toilets in all fuel pumps across the State as most commuters use these toilets. Those fuel pumps having unclean toilets would be shut down,” said the Chief Minister.

Golay informed that the Brahma Kumaris Centre is being developed at Namchi and the inaugural of the same would be held in a national level event.

Earlier, Universal Peace Federation- India in collaboration with Brahma Kumaris held Water of Harmony and Interfaith Prayers during the programme.

Similarly, Brahma Kumaris Centre Gangtok in-charge Sonam Didi made a brief presentation on 89th Trimurti Maha Shivratri celebrations.
