Indra Hang urges Defence ministry to strengthen North Sikkim roads before monsoon

GANGTOK, : Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba on Wednesday called on Defence MoS Sanjay Seth at his office in New Delhi regarding roads leading to the border areas of North Sikkim.

During the meeting, the LokSabha MP urged the Defence ministry and the BRO to reinforce road connectivity in North Sikkim, particularly NH 310A and border roads, ahead of the monsoon.

While appreciating their efforts in reopening roads after the Teesta floods of October 2023, Indra Hang raised concerns that heavy rains and landslides this monsoon may once again render them impassable.

He emphasized the urgent need for durable reinforcements, including slope stabilization, improved drainage, and stronger road materials, to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for civilians and security forces in this strategic region, a press release mentions.
