New governing body of All Sikkimese Bhutia Association takes oath

GANGOK,: The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected governing body of the All Sikkimese Bhutia Association (Denzong Lho Poi Chokpo) was held here on Sunday. Minister Sonam Lama graced the occasion as the chief guest, informs a press release.

The election for the new governing body was conducted here on Saturday.

The Election Committee declared Chutem Lendup Denzongpa (IRS retd), former principal chief commissioner, Income Tax Department, Government of India, as the president and senior advocate Jorgay Namka as the general secretary. Both the candidates were elected unopposed.

On the occasion, the newly elected All Sikkimese Bhutia Association president and general secretary took an oath.

The chief guest handed over the Certificate of Election to the office bearers.

Chutem Lendup Denzongpa, in his speech, emphasized working with a positive mindset for the welfare of the community.

Minister Sonam Lama congratulated the new governing body of the All Sikkimese Bhutia Association and hoped that the association will address all important issues.

He highlighted the government’s objective of developing all communities for ‘Sunowlo Sikkim, Samridhha Sikkim’ under the leadership of Chief Minister P.S. Golay. Concluding his address, he assured all possible support and assistance from the government to the community.

Also present on the occasion were tourism minister Tshering T. Bhutia, retired Justice Sonam Phintso Wangdi, Martam Rumtek MLA Sonam Venchungpa, Dr. Sonam Pulger, Passang Bhutia, former office bearers of the association, secretary Karma R. Bonpo, secretary Rinzing Chewang Bhutia, former secretaries, panchayats/zilla panchayats, senior citizens, and esteemed members of ASBA, the release mentions.
