Sikkim to celebrate ‘Aama Samman Diwas’ today

GANGTOK,: Rangpo ground is all set to host the State's first-ever ‘Aama Samman Diwas’ on Sunday, an event dedicated to honouring the mothers of Sikkim. The occasion also coincides with the 8th Jan Unmukti Diwas, a significant day for the ruling SKM party.

In his message, Chief Minister PS Golay said: “On the auspicious occasion of the First Aama Samman Diwas 2025, being celebrated on the occasion of the 8th Jan Unmukti Diwas, in honour of our mothers, we bow with deepest love, respect, obeisance, and gratitude to all mothers the eternal pillars of our lives.”

“Today, as we celebrate and honour our mothers, we acknowledge their silent strength, their boundless patience, and their selfless devotion that shape generations. May this day remind us to cherish, protect, and care for our mothers with the same tenderness they have bestowed upon us since our first breath,” said the Chief Minister.

“To all our mothers-You are our first teacher, our eternal friend, and our greatest blessing. We salute you today and always. Happy Aama Samman Diwas 2025!,” said the Chief Minister in his message.

As part of the celebration, more than 32,000 mothers will be felicitated under the Sikkim Aama Sasaktikaran Yojana, receiving the first installment of financial assistance. Each eligible beneficiary will receive Rs 40,000 in two installments, with the first disbursed during the event.

In addition, around 4,200 mothers will benefit from the Sikkim Aama Sahayog Yojana, which provides financial assistance for four LPG cylinder refills annually.

A specially designed facility named ‘Aama Suvidha Ghar’ has also been established at the venue.

To support the participation of women, especially mothers with young children, the ‘Aama Suvidha Ghar’ will offer a comprehensive range of women-centric facilities focused on convenience, hygiene, safety, and care.
