Tashi Chophel takes charge as Pakyong DC

PAKYONG,: Tashi Chophel, new district collector for Pakyong district, joined his office at Pachey here on Thursday.
Gangtok DC Raghul K., who held additional charge for Pakyong, and district officials welcomed the new Pakyong DC. Also present were Culture chairman Sonam Sherpa and Food & Civil Supplies advisor Inchung Bhutia.
In a media interaction, Chophel congratulated the public of Pakyong district as their long pending demand for upgrading Pakyong subdivision into a district has been fulfilled by the present government.
I would like to thank the Chief Minister of Sikkim for giving me responsibility of new Pakyong district, and I will be giving my hundred percent to fulfill the aspirations of the new district, said Chophel. He said the district administration needs support of all staff, local public and civil society to achieve aspirations of all.
“My first priorities are education and health sectors which are very important for the future of the State. If education and health sectors are good then the State would progress. There are other issues also which I would come to know in the coming days and by taking consent from all, I will be working accordingly.”
The new Pakyong DC added that during the initial period as a new district, there would be teething problems and many departments should be opening their offices.
Our main aim is to make Pakyong a model district in the State, said Chophel. He visited the new office set up at the Pakyong district administrative centre and surrounding areas.
