SORENG, : The drinking water problem being faced for a long time by the majority
of rural areas under Salghari-Zoom constituency in Soreng district would be addressed
finally. A comprehensive project to tackle the drinking water crisis in the
constituency is anticipated to take off very soon, as shared by Chief Minister
PS Golay on Tuesday here.
The
Chief Minister was addressing the final day of the golden jubilee celebration
of Sawali Gaon government secondary school. He announced that a comprehensive
project to resolve the drinking water crisis being faced by some dry rural belt
of Salghari-Zoom such as Gelling and Mabung - Singyang and others would be
initiated soon. He informed that the PHE department has been notified to chalk
out necessary plans for the project for which the budget has been sanctioned to
resolve the drinking water crisis. He also shared about the plan to search out
a perennial source of drinking water to resolve the issue permanently.
“A
comprehensive project to solve the drinking water crisis under Salghari-Zoom
will be initiated to address the long pending demand of the people of the
constituency. We are ready to start the project”, the Chief Minister said.
Golay
mentioned that the drinking water supply project for Salghari-Zoom was
sanctioned during the previous SDF government. But the project was quashed or
abandoned because of my rebellious stance against SDF after 2009, he said.
The
Chief Minister expressed that he is well aware of the local problems to be
addressed and the developmental initiatives to be initiated in Zoom-Salghari
constituency.
Asserting
a slew of developmental initiatives in Salghari-Zoom constituency, the Chief Minister
informed that in order to facilitate the rural farmers for marketing their
products, a kind of haat bazar 'Hamro Bazar' would be developed at Jorethang.
He promised a stadium near Jorethang as an alternative to Jorethang stadium
where the State government has a plan to lay artificial turf.
Other
developmental promises included a peacock park at Gelling at the cost of around
Rs 15 crore. The project has been sanctioned and the initiative will take off
very soon.
The
Chief Minister added that the site location for Makar Sankranti festival in
Jorethang and promotion of Makar Sankranti at the national level in line with
the famous Hornbill festival of Nagaland would be initiated.
