Chungkipu Lepcha takes charge as State women commission chairperson

GANGTOK,: Newly appointed Sikkim State Commission for Women chairperson Chungkipu Lepcha on Monday took charge of her office at the commission located here at Old Secretariat building.
Speaking with SIKKIM EXPRESS, the chairperson thanked the Chief Minister and the SKM government for entrusting her with the commission which looks after the welfare and security of women in distress. With the support of the officials and staffs of the commission, I hope to live up to the government’s expectations, she said. We will work on safety of women and ensure that our women walks with their heads held high, she added.
Chungkipu added that Sikkimese women are more empowered as compared to women in some other States of the country. It is the right time for our women in Sikkim to come forward and shine in all sectors, she said.
