GANGTOK,: On the momentous occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Raj Bhavan
witnessed a formal ceremony marked by patriotism and national pride at New Raj
Bhavan complex.
Governor
Om Prakash Mathur paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the
Father of the Nation, and unfurled the national flag at the New Raj Bhavan
complex. This was followed by a ceremonial salute from the 13th Battalion
Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the playing of the National Anthem, a Raj
Bhavan release informs.
The
Governor extended Independence Day greetings to everyone present.
The brief
function was attended by secretary Jigmee Dorjee Bhutia, additional secretary
Khemraj Bhattarai, officers, officials, and family members of Raj Bhavan
employees.
Later in
the day, Raj Bhavan Sikkim hosted its customary ‘At Home’ function in
celebration of the 78th Independence Day, graced by the Governor.
In his
welcome address, secretary Jigmee Dorji Bhutia expressed his sincere
appreciation for the Governor's presence, underscoring it as a testament to
Sikkim’s progress towards development and a source of both reassurance and
inspiration. He also extended his gratitude to all the distinguished guests and
emphasized the pride Raj Bhavan takes in hosting them.
Furthermore,
he also highlighted that under the guidance of the Governor, there remains a
steadfast commitment to achieving the goals outlined for Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
The event
featured patriotic songs and cultural performances presented by the Department
of Culture, showcasing Sikkim's rich cultural diversity. Additionally, V Matrix
Academy from Singtam contributed with patriotic dance, the release informs.
In his
vote of thanks, additional secretary Khemraj Bhattarai expressed his gratitude
to all attendees.
The ‘At
Home’ function was attended by the Chief Justice of Sikkim, members of the
Cabinet, Members of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, deputy Mayor, the chief secretary,
Director General of Police, additional chief secretaries, heads of departments,
DC Gangtok, SP Gangtok, National awardees, State awardees, and other
distinguished dignitaries, the release mentions.
