GANGTOK,: Lakpa Sherpa, a candidate from Lower M.G. Marg-Lall Bazaar ward of Gangtok Municipal Corporation, is preparing to start a full-fledged campaign. He has received the election symbol of a ‘cauliflower’ from the Election authorities.
“I got the symbol on Thursday. We will be starting our door-to-door campaign from tomorrow after preparing all the promotion and publicity materials,” Sherpa told reporters on Friday.
Sherpa said there are pending issues of Lower M.G. Marg-Lall Bazaar ward which requires attention and solution from the State authorities. If elected, I will work in consultation with the people and resolve the pending issues with support of the government, he said.
Sherpa added that he, being a trader, can properly understand the problems faced by the traders, hawkers and business community of the ward.
Lower M.G. Marg-Lall Bazaar is the commercial hub of Gangtok and deals largely in vegetables, groceries and other essential commodities.
There are 3,675 voters in the ward which has seven candidates.
The candidates are Lakpa Sherpa, Kunga Bhutia, Kanayalall Gupta, Surja Chettri, Kailash Chandra Pradhan, Ashok Kr. Prasad and Ajay Kr. Agarwal.
