Pakyong district holds preparedness meeting for emergencies

PAKYONG,  (IPR): Pakyong District Collector Rohan Agawane chaired an emergency preparedness meeting at the RDD Community Complex, Rurban Pakyong today in accordance with the directions issued by the Chief Minister of Sikkim.

The meeting aimed to brief concerned stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities in case of any national emergency.

The meeting was attended by Pakyong Superintendent of Police Dhan Maya Subba; additional District Collector (Headquarter) GL Meena; Pakyong ADC Sangay Gyatso Bhutia; ADC (Development) Robin Pd Sewa; Commandant, 69 BN SSB; Commandant Officer, GREF; SE Roads and Bridges, Power and PHE departments; CMO, Health department; CEO Education department; SDMs from various subdivisions; Station House Officers; DFO, Forest and Environment department; deputy director, Tourism department; DCSO Food and Civil Supplies department; BDOs from various blocks; assistant Commissioner, Labour department; director, AAI; and general manager, NHIDCL.

The District Collector Pakyong emphasised the need for proactive strategies and seamless coordination among central and district-level agencies. Each department was given specific directives to strengthen their preparedness and ensure swift response to potential emergencies.

Concluding the meeting, DC Agawane reiterated the importance of availability and communication across departments, underlining the district’s commitment to safety and swift action in emergencies.

During the course of the meeting, it was stated that the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) has been established to facilitate prompt response and coordinate. Individuals who observe anything concerning are urged to immediately contact the DEOC by dialling the helpline number 03592-200024.
