Sikkim Supreme enters energy drink market with unique range of sugar-free drinks

GANGTOK, : The Government Fruit Preservation Factory (GFPF), better known as ‘Sikkim Supreme’, launched a unique range of sugar-free energy drinks Saturday on the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja.

The energy drinks are available in five exotic flavours, viz., ‘blackbolt’, ‘red rush’, ‘citrus twist’, ‘peachylicious’ and ‘bubblegum’. They are priced at Rs. 20 each for 300 ml bottle.

Speaking to SIKKIM EXPRESS, GFPF managing director said the idea of launching energy drink was conceived during the Covid pandemic. He hoped that this ready-to-serve drinks would turnaround the fate of the organisation which has been in operation since 1956.

“There are many ready-to-serve drinks available in the market presently but our product is sugar-free, which we consider as the USP of our product. We have used plant-based sweetener in our product,” said Awasthy.

He informed that more exciting wellness products are in the pipeline. He said the GFPF will come out with micro-nutrients-contained vitamin water within next six months. “Our focus and priority will be towards health related products,” Awasthy said.

The products launched today have been designed in collaboration with Joules Health Enterprise, a Bengaluru-headquartered health-based company. Representing the spirit of innovation,the company helps refresh and re-energise the world in healthiest way possible through its functional foods and beverages. The products designed by Joules Health are delicious, refreshing and helps augment wellness, said Awasthy.

The new energy drinks, enriched with essential ingredients, will be retailed across key cities in the country. “We have a target to market this product outside India as well, in the countries like Bhutan and Nepal,” the GFPF MD said.

Awasthy attributed upgradation of GFPF by State government for their recent progress and thanked the GFPF employees with whose support, he said the State-owned fruit preservation factory was able to bring our quality products.

“We target to launch 3-4 exclusive products by the end of this financial year,” the MD added.
