Sikkim’s Pritam Rai wins Bengaluru stadium run

GANGTOK,:  Pritam Rai of Tathang, West Sikkim stood first in the 12-hour stadium run organised by International Association of Ultra Runners and Nonstop Entertainment Business (NEB) in Bengaluru during April 30-May 1.

Pritam, 23, was among the four runners from Sikkim to participate in different categories of the event. He is a student of ultra-marathoner Amar Subba.

Addressing a press conference here today, Pritam said, “The run was really tough as the event had more than 250 participants from across the nation. I was able to cover 109.6 kms in 12 hours and bagged first place in the said event. It is really a moment of pride for me and my coach along with my entire family including my State. It gives me immense pleasure to win a run of repute and shine is name of the State.”

Pritam has previously participated in Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai marathons.
