18th episode of Friday Field/Farm Day initiative concludes

GANGTOK,: The Office of the Additional District Collector (Dev), Pakyong has announced the successful completion of the 18th episode of the Friday Field/Farm Day initiative.

Launched with the objective of revitalizing barren lands for agricultural purposes, the programme has achieved significant milestone and positively impacting the local farming landscape, informs a press release.

As per the release, the achievements of the initiative include a substantial increase in cultivated land, enhanced agricultural productivity and active participation from local farmers, panchayat and government employees. The programme has also promoted environmentally sustainable farming practices and empowered local communities through livelihood initiatives.

The mission goes beyond cultivation, focusing on sustainable agricultural practices and engaging the younger generation including young government employees, NGOs, associations, clubs, and panchayat members to foster long-term community empowerment.

The future plans outlined by the ADC Office include expanding community participation, promoting innovative agricultural methods, strengthening local partnerships, and exploring new technologies for sustainable farming. Additionally, the office aims to ensure that all district offices maintain gardens with flowering, fruiting, and kitchen plants, encouraging societal engagement in cultivation wherever possible, the release mentions.
