Bista requests IRCON for CSR support to families affected by October 2023 flood

GANGTOK, : Darjeeling MP Raju Bista today said that he has requested IRCON to extend its CSR support to assist families in West Bengal affected by the October 2023 floods.

Bista, who met IRCON International Limited chairman and managing director Mohan Gupta today, said: “I highlighted the severe impact of the October 2023 floods, which displaced nearly 500 families and caused widespread destruction. Despite the magnitude of the disaster, they are yet to receive support from the WB government. Many families remain in temporary shelters, with little progress on rebuilding their homes or livelihoods.”

Bista also proposed enhancing medical facilities, modernizing schools, improving sanitation and developing drinking water infrastructure. “Additionally, I requested the repair of the bridge connecting Rongchong and Sitong. These actions would play a crucial role in the region’s recovery and help restore the livelihoods of those impacted by the crisis,” added Bista.
