‘Gangtok to Gurudongmar’ run reaches Chungthang

GANGTOK,: The ‘G2G’ team reached Chungthang on Day 2 of their Gangtok to Gurudongmar run on Saturday. They had started from Mangan Friday morning and reached Chungthang town. So far, they have covered 95 km uphill run from Gangtok.

Bhupendra Hang Subba, Basant Pradhan, Nreependra Hang Subba, Sudarsan Tamang, Allen Targain, Anup Jyoti Baniya and Phurba Tamang, all from Gangtok, are in the group. The other runners are Luv Burman from Kolkata and Wangden Chewang from Darjeeling.

Phurba Tamang is the sole woman runner in the group which aims to reach Gurudongmar Lake (17800 ft) on May 23.

The group seeks to create a record of high-altitude run for which they have registered with the India Book of Records.  No one has ever attempted to run this distance with such altitude gain, said the group with the Gangtok to Gurudongmar run sponsored by JBG Endura 101 and Sportiz.
