Heavy rain alert for Sikkim

GANGTOK, : The Meteorological Centre, Gangtok, has forecast enhanced rainfall across Sikkim between 11th and 17th September.

The active monsoon trough and cyclonic circulations are expected to bring light to moderate rain in Gangtok, Gyalshing, Mangan, Namchi, Pakyong, and Soreng districts, it was informed.

Weather warnings include yellow alerts for heavy rain on 12th, 13th, and 16th September, along with an orange warning for Gangtok and Namchi on 14th September.

Authorities caution of localized flooding, landslides, traffic disruption, reduced visibility, and possible damage to crops and vulnerable structures.

Residents have been advised to remain alert, avoid waterlogged and landslide-prone areas, and follow official advisories for safety.
