Hill runners triumph in Siliguri road race

GANGTOK,: The Hill runners of Project Life once again demonstrated their prowess at the 40th edition of the Siliguri Mahalaya Road Race organized by Baghajatin Athletic Club.

Among more than 30 participants from Project Life, Namper Lepcha from Sukhai and Saraswati Rai from Kalimpong stood out, clinching first place finishes in their respective age categories, informs a press release.

The 5 km/10 km race saw six participants from Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Sikkim achieve podium finishes.

Saraswati Rai (Kalimpong) won the 35-50 age category of women’s 10 km run, while Namper Lepcha (Sukhai) won 50+ men’s 5 km run.

Alina Lepcha (Gangtok) and Sudip Pradhan (Sukhai) finished second in 35-50 women’s km run and 35-50 men’s 10 km run respectively.

Mamta Rai (Ghoom) and Kushal Dewan (Lebong) grabbed third position in 35-50 women’s 5 km run and 50+ men’s 10 km run respectively.
