Ranji Trophy: Sikkim–Manipur clash concludes in a draw

PAKYONG, (IPR): The four-day Ranji Trophy fixture between Sikkim and Manipur at the Sikkim Cricket Ground, Rangpo, concluded in a draw on Saturday, wrapping up an evenly contested match that showcased commendable performances from both sides.

Sikkim, in their second innings, declared at 329 for 6, setting a lead of 297 runs. With limited time remaining, both teams mutually decided to call off play, resulting in a draw.

Earlier in the day, Manipur appeared to be in a strong position after claiming four early wickets in the morning session. However, a resilient partnership between Gurinder Singh and Kranthi Kumar steadied Sikkim’s innings and dashed Manipur’s chances of forcing a result.

The duo stitched together an unbroken 155-run stand, with Gurinder Singh reaching a well-deserved century (100 not out) after narrowly missing one in the first innings. Kranthi Kumar remained unbeaten on 63, while earlier contributions came from Ashish Thapa (45) and Arun Chettri (41).

Manipur collected three points from the encounter, courtesy of their 32-run first innings advantage. Sikkim had scored 308 in their opening innings, to which Manipur responded with 340.

Manipur’s Priyojit, who struck his maiden first-class hundred (102), was adjudged Player of the Match for his standout performance.
