Shringla warmly welcomed in Darjeeling

DARJEELING, : Harsha Vardhan Shringla, who was recently made the Rajya Sabha MP, was given a grand welcome here on Thursday by different organizations with the crowd accompanying him all the way to Gorkha Ranga Manch where a program was held on his behalf.

Among those seen welcoming him were people from different communities, social organizations and local BJP leaders at Clubside. From there he was escorted to Gorkha Ranga Manch by different communities wearing their traditional attire and playing local tunes in their traditional musical instruments. Cultural dances were also a part of the rally.

Speaking to the media, Shringla said, “The huge number of people who came to meet and welcome me today came here on their own which is a proud and respectful moment for me. I will try to fulfill the dreams of the community and area here.”

“I have already said in the parliament that I have not come here as a diplomat. I have worked for the country for four decades and working for the public is in my blood. I will continue to work for the people and the country in the parliament,” he said.
