SILIGURI,: Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who was recently nominated to Rajya Sabha, reached Siliguri on Wednesday.

Speaking with the media persons at Bagdogra Airport, Shringla said said, “My nomination to the Rajya Sabha is not only a proud moment for me but also for the people of Darjeeling and the Gorkha region. I am grateful to the Prime Minister and the President of India for entrusting me with this responsibility to serve the nation. Having served India as a diplomat for over four decades, I now have the opportunity to serve my local community and work towards fulfilling their aspirations.”

As a Member of Parliament, Shringla said he aims to tackle the region’s key challenges, including improving educational and healthcare access, addressing economic challenges, encouraging sports and fostering sustainable infrastructure development. Shringla added that the will also focus on addressing environmental concerns such as deforestation, soil erosion, and water pollution, which are critical to the region’s long-term growth. Through these efforts, Shringla is committed to creating a more prosperous, resilient, and progressive Darjeeling and Siliguri.

He said that he is committed to the development of this region, with a focus on education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

Shringla, a former Foreign secretary, also assured to bring a global perspective that will benefit the people at the national level.
