GANGTOK,: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay on Monday said the entire Sikkim
government, along with the State’s two MPs, will visit New Delhi to submit key
demands to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He
was sharing why the State government did not raise its demands during the Prime
Minister’s recent visit to Gangtok for the concluding ceremony of Sikkim’s
Statehood Golden Jubilee celebrations.
“There
have been questions on why State issues were not submitted during the Prime
Minister’s recent visit. We had prepared a memorandum with around 20 points,
including reservation of Limboo-Tamang seats, tribal status for left-out
communities, and other issues, but the platform was not appropriate,” the Chief
Minister said at a function here.
“Though
the memorandum was ready, we decided not to submit it at that time. Instead, we
requested an appointment with the Prime Minister, which has been accepted. Once
the dates are finalised, the entire Cabinet and MLAs, along with the two MPs,
will go to Delhi to submit the memorandum,” he added.
Golay
said the Gangtok roadshow and the concluding programme of the Golden Jubilee
celebrations at Paljor Stadium, attended by the Prime Minister, were historic.
He added that the event in Gangtok was highly appreciated by the Prime
Minister.
