All of us need energy to live and sustain lives on earth. We can’t think of a day without electricity or other energy sources. When it comes to energy management, it includes planning and operation of energy production and energy consumption units as well as energy distribution and storage. Objectives are resource conservation, climate protection and cost savings, while the users have permanent access to the energy they need. It is connected closely to environmental management, production management, logistics and other established business functions
We have seen that energy consumption has increased around the world. As our energy consumption increases, the need for better energy management grows. According to the International Energy Agency, the world’s consumption is estimated to increase by 30% by 2040. As this brings challenges but there are institutes and organizations that work for the effective use of the energy. There are many organizations and governments that are working to reduce the effects of global consumption on the planet. There are many regulations introduced around carbon emissions, which differ from country to country.
The increase of population and uses of energy brings opportunities to make a career in the field of energy management. The present situation brings more opportunity for the professionals engaged in the field of energy management. A professional management degree in Energy Management could not just provide better understanding, but also give you the necessary skill set to elevate one’s career.
One of the popular courses in the field of energy management is Master in Business Administration or Post Graduate Diploma in Management. MBA in Energy Management is a two-year post-graduate management degree programme that prepares students to deal with the challenges of managing energy, power, and other related industries. Energy Management involves the study of the production of energy through natural resources, such as the extraction of oil and gas, as well as from renewable or sustainable sources of energy, including biofuels, hydro, wind, solar power, tidal power, etc.
One may join an MBA or PGDM programme related to energy management after their graduation, there are different colleges in India that offer the course. Some of the abilities required for an Energy management is undoubtedly one of the best fields which have lucrative job opportunities. Managing energy primarily leads to the consumption and production of energy. The PGDM course offers a brighter future and many career options. With an infinite scope and potential both in terms of entrepreneurial ventures and employment opportunities, possibilities of getting further in your career are endless.

NTPC Limited is instrumental in promoting NTPC Education and Research Society (NEARS). Under the aegis of NEARS, NTPC School of Business (NSB) was set up in the year 2014 with the aim to nurture human capital for the entire energy sector. NTPC School of Business (NSB) has two AICTE approved programmes, namely, Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Executive (PGDM-E) and Post Graduate Diploma in Energy Management (PGDM-EM). After completing the course, aspirants may get an opportunity to work in different organizations like corporations dealing with energy.
