DR Nepal pens his life’s experiences for readers

GANGTOK,: Culture minister GT Dhungel along with Padmashree Sanu Lama released former bureaucrat DR Nepal’s book ‘Samaya Le Janmayeko Jindagi Ka Kathaharu’ at an event organized by Tulsadevi Smriti Pratisthan-Tumin at Tourism department auditorium here Saturday.

The book release event had the presence of dignitaries, different Nepali literary associations and invited guests.

Congratulating former secretary DR Nepal and his family for his debut book release, minister GT Dhungel expressed that ‘Samaya Le Janmayeko Jindagi Ka Kathaharu’ shares about the bittersweet experiences of the life of the author. He urged the gathering to get inspired by DR Nepal and also write about their bittersweet experiences.

“All of us are educated here, but some of the lessons we don’t find in books, we learn through our experiences and with time. Nepali language is flourishing, and people are contributing to society through different forms of art and literature. DR Nepal has also contributed and we should learn from his talent and simplicity,” he said.

Author DR Nepal expressed happiness in releasing his book, and stated that he is in the nursery stage in Nepali literature. He thanked the people who encouraged and helped him write the book.

“I never thought that my writing would turn into a book today. During the Covid lockdown, I wanted to do something constructive. I have been penning down my thoughts and writings in my journal since 1973 and I still maintain a journal today. I found manuscripts and journals in my attic, most of which were in terrible condition and beyond repair. I managed to restore some of them, which took 5-6 months. Then, I started writing. The book consists of my life experiences related to different topics viz. family, politics etc. “

“How time flies. Life 60 years ago was completely different than life today. I always thought about how my grandchildren would be, then. Our parents have faced difficulties for us and some stories are about the reflection about their sacrifices. Now my grandchildren will also know about it through my book. I also wanted to promote Nepali language. We are born to do something great in life,” he said.

Born and brought up in Tumin, 68-year-old DR Nepal currently resides in Lumsey here.
