GANGTOK,: The 65th Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Day marked a historic moment as the 758 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), under Project Swastik, was honored with the esteemed title of the best ‘Task Force’ in the nation. This distinguished accolade was presented by Giridhar Aramane, Defence secretary, recognizing the exceptional achievements of the unit, a press release on Tuesday informs.
“The recognition stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts demonstrated by the personnel of 758 BRTF, under Project Swastik, especially during the catastrophic flash floods that devastated Sikkim on October 3rd and 4th, 2023. Despite facing immense challenges, the BRO personnel exhibited unmatched skills and a steadfast commitment to nation-building,” the release states.
Notably, the chief engineer of Project Swastik led commendable rescue operations and swift infrastructure restoration efforts in North Sikkim, earning him the prestigious ‘Strategic Contributions Award’ under Operation Teesta, presented by the Defence secretary during the ceremony.
Commenting on this remarkable achievement, Aramane expressed profound gratitude to the entire team of project Swastik for their exemplary service and resilience. He emphasized that these honours are a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence and the strong sense of camaraderie within the Swastik family.
The award not only celebrates the outstanding performance of the 758 BRTF and Project Swastik, but also underscores the crucial role played by the Border Roads Organisation in ensuring connectivity and resilience in challenging terrains across the country.
What once seemed nearly impossible was made achievable through the meticulous planning by Project Swastik and 758 BRTF officials and the dedicated efforts of the Road Construction Companies (RCC), Casually Paid Labours (CPL), and other relevant teams, states the release.
