Pakyong is an important airport, it should be functional soon: MoS External Affairs

PAKYONG,  Union Minister of State (External Affairs) Pabitra Margherita visited Pakyong district on Friday and took stock of the aspirational district, seeking information on various developmental works in agriculture, education, and health sectors as well.

The MoS visited schools and hospitals in Pakyong district.

Taking a keen interest on the defunct Greenfield airport in Pakyong which has seen no flight activities for almost 2 years now, Margherita stated, “There are some technical issues there…the officials of Airport Authority presented the present status. We must thank the Prime Minister that Pakyong got an important airport, I think all the technical problems will be resolved by technical experts and Minister for Civil Aviation and even the local government are in discussion. I am optimistic that the airport will be functional soon.”

On Pakyong district as a new district, Margherita stated, “Although it's a new district, it is just about to be 3 years old. But under the leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, this new district is progressing in the path of development. I have reviewed many departments from agriculture to education to health to also the civil aviation, almost all the domains is achieving its goals. I am optimistic that Pakyong will be one of the best districts in the coming years. We are witnessing the plans and schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are being implemented effectively".

On the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Nathu La this year, the MoS opined, “We are trying our best for the overall development as well as for our culture and heritage, preservation of our civilisation. Mansarovar Yatra is a part of our 1000-year old heritage.”
