GANGTOK,: The Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim would be announcing its new
party president by September 14, as decided during the party’s CEC meeting held
on Saturday at its head-office in Adampool near Gangtok.
Present
CAP Sikkim president Bharat Basnet had previously resigned from his post taking
moral responsibility for the party’s failure in the 2024 Assembly elections.
His resignation had been put on hold till today’s CEC meeting, a CAP Sikkim
release informs.
At the
meeting, Basnet proposed three names that may be considered for the president’s
post.

Sikkim chief election officer HB Rai informed that the party would announce its
new president by September 14.

Sikkim chief coordinator Ganesh Kumar Rai, founding president LP Kafley and CEC
members attended the meeting which saw renewal of party membership.
In his
address, Rai urged the CAP workers and leaders to work collectively for the
people of Sikkim.
At the
meeting, the CAP Sikkim committed to work as a strong opposition party in
Sikkim since there are no other reliable opposition parties in the State, the
release mentions.
