ARUN DEV

The Land of Pagodas, nestled in India’s serene northeast, isn’t widely known, but it’s where the remarkable journey of Sambhav Varshney began. Today, he’s an Environmental Scientist in New York, the iconic Empire State, exemplifying a story of ambition, resilience, and inspiration.

Sambhav was born and raised in Chowkham, Arunachal Pradesh a small town with few resources but a tight-knit community. Even in his early years, he stood out at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mahadevpur, and Chowkham Higher Secondary School, where he excelled in academics, particularly in science. While opportunities were limited, his passion for learning was boundless. He also completed some of his schooling in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, broadening his academic experience in another part of India.

After completing high school as one of the few science-stream students, Sambhav pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable college in Jaipur. His first role as a Site Engineer on a 24-Megawatt hydropower project in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, offered him real-world experience and cemented his love for environmental work. However, his aspirations didn’t end there; Sambhav dreamed of making a difference on a global scale.

Determined to study in the United States, he prepared rigorously for the GRE. His dedication paid off as he aced the exam on his first attempt, gaining admission to the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, where he pursued a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering. The journey was far from easy, with numerous obstacles and moments of doubt, but his family’s unwavering support carried him through.

Sambhav’s hard work and talent didn’t go unnoticed. After completing his MS, he secured a prestigious role as an Environmental Scientist in New York. Known for his knowledge and expertise, he’s now sought after by leading companies in India and abroad.

Sambhav Varshney’s story is a beacon of hope for young students in small towns who aspire to study and work abroad. Through determination and resilience, he proved that even the most ambitious dreams can become reality. He hopes to inspire the next generation to believe in themselves, regardless of their background, and to chase their goals relentlessly.
