6th State Strength Lifting & Incline Bench Press Championship concludes

PAKYONG,: The two-day long 6th State Strength Lifting and Incline Bench Press Championship 2024 concluded on Sunday at Pakyong community hall.

Organised by Sikkim Strength Lifting Association in association with Muscle and Fitness Gym Pakyong, more than 150 participants, both male and female, from across the State competed in the championship in Sub-Junior, Junior, Senior and Master categories.

Sapna Sunar of Hardcore Himalayan Gym was adjudged the Overall Champion of Champions in the women’s category of Incline Bench Press, while Lamin Theegh won the Overall Champion of Champions in women’s Strength Lifting.

In the men’s division, top titles went to Pemba Sherpa (Sub-Junior Incline Bench Press), Emuniel Darjee (Junior Incline Bench Press), Kamal Rasaily  (Senior Incline Bench Press) and Devendra Banett (Master category).

Pema’s Gym continued to dominate as Bijay Rai finished as Junior Champion of Champions, Kamal Rasaily as Senior Champion and Nima Norbu Lama as Master Champion.

The day also saw the felicitation of eight strength lifters for their achievements in State, national and international competitions.

Sports minister Raju Basnet was present as the chief guest.

Also present were Zilla Adakshya Laden Lhamu Bhutia, Sikkim Strength Lifting Association president Tenzing Denzongpa, vice president Allen Targain and chief coach Pema Bhutia.
