MANGAN, (IPR): Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited two government schools in Mangan district today on the fifth day of his tour of the district.
At Hee-Gyathang senior secondary school, the Governor was received by area MLA Pintso Namgyal Lepcha and upadhakshya Sonam Kipa Bhutia. Also present in the programme were Mangan DC, SP, ADC (Dev), Dzongu SDM, BDO, heads of offices and other district officials, panchayats and self-help groups.
Addressing the programme, the Governor said every village in the State should have a good healthcare system, education institutes, road connectivity and other basic facilities. He added that the State and Central governments are working on it.
He briefed on the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana in the region and advised locals to be aware about various government schemes and take benefits of them.
He motivated the SHGs to promote their products in towns and cities to earn big returns. He also informed that many Central government schemes will be implemented in the region to empower SHGs.
The area MLA welcomed the Governor to Dzongu and highlighted on the issues of the region which needed immediate action.
He said that State and Central governments have always cared for Dzongu.
He also requested the Governor to adopt one GPU from the region.
A zilla member from Dzongu highlighted various needs and requirements from the region. She sought the Governor’s attention to the previously sanctioned model school of Hee-Gyathang. She also informed about various issues of road connectivity, cellular network and other problems faced by the residents of Dzongu.
SDM Dr. Sonam Rinchen Lepcha gave a brief report on the region of Dzongu.
During the programme, the Governor presented national flag to the area MLA, and a water filter, white board and stationary items to the school.
The Governor also visited stalls put up by the local SHGs and interacted with the members.
Earlier, the Governor visited Singhik secondary school. He was received by Mangan DC Hem Kumar Chettri, SP Dr. Tshering Gyatso, SDPO, Education CEO, headmaster, teachers, staff and students.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said education is essential in development of individuals and that teachers play an important role. He expressed his happiness over the priority given to education and safety of girl child in the State and applauded Singhik school for ensuring the same.
The Governor advised the headmaster and teachers of the school to implement Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Scheme for all girl students.
At the outset, headmaster Sonam Dorjee Bhutia gave a welcome speech which was followed by presentation of a brief school report by teacher Tshering Doma Bhutia.
The event also witnessed cultural and traditional performances.
The Governor visited 11th battalion ITBP camp at Pengong. There, he was presented a guard of honour by female contingent of the ITBP.
