GANGTOK,: Governor Om Prakash Mathur on Friday visited the upcoming Prerna
Sthal at Bardang in Singtam, Pakyong district. This project is an initiation by
Raj Bhavan, in honour of the 22 brave soldiers who lost their lives in the
Teesta River flood on October 3-4, 2023.
Upon
arrival, the Governor was welcomed and briefed by Major General Amit Kapthiyal
of the 17 Mountain Division, who provided updates on the site's progress and
future plans, a Raj Bhavan release informs.
Major
General Amit Kapthiyal also provided an update on the Prerna Sthal, noting that
it will feature 'Sakaly Upvan,' which will include a Nirvana Point, a medicinal
garden, fitness facilities, and other amenities.
Additionally,
the Governor visited the Winter Camp at Rangpo, where he was given the guard of
honour by 13BN ITBP and warm reception by the officers from Rangpo subdivision
and other line departments, councillors of Rangpo Nagar Panchayat and local
residents. During his visit, he interacted with all present there and addressed
their concerns.
Additionally,
the Governor toured the Atal Amrit Udyan on National Highway 10, located under
the Ben Phengyong GPU, to review the ongoing construction project.
Throughout
his tour, the Governor was accompanied by Jigme Dorjee Bhutia, secretary to the
Governor, and other officials, the release mentions.
