GANGTOK,: Chief Minister PS Golay on Wednesday informed that the SKM has extended
its support to the NDA with the BJP-led alliance preparing to form the
government at the Centre for the third consecutive term.
We have
already extended our support to the NDA and I had a talk on this with the Union
Home minister yesterday, said Golay, also the SKM president, to the media here.
The NDA
held a meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence at New
Delhi on Wednesday afternoon to chart its course of action for government
formation under leadership of Modi. The crucial meeting comes within a day
after declaration of Lok Sabha 2024 election’s results as the BJP immediately
reached out to its allies for the government-formation preparations.

Subba, the Lok Sabha MP-elect from Sikkim, represented the SKM at the NDA
meeting which was chaired by Modi. Senior leaders of the NDA alliance including
Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu were present at
the much anticipated meeting along with other NDA members.
In his
social media statement, Indra Hang shared that he represented the SKM at the
NDA meeting as directed by SKM president and Chief Minister PS Golay and
recorded the SKM’s support to the NDA. At the meeting, I extended the SKM’s
support to NDA to form the government at the Centre under the dynamic
leadership of Narendra Modi, he posted.
The SKM
candidate had been elected as the lone Lok Sabha MP for the second straight
term in the Parliamentary Election results announced on Tuesday.
Indra Hang
shared that the Prime Minister personally passed his congratulations for the
landslide electoral victory and best wishes for the upcoming term to Chief
Minister PS Golay.
“During my
address on behalf of Sikkimese people, I congratulated NDA alliance for
securing a comfortable majority in the Lok Sabha 2024 election and formation of
the new government under the pragmatic leadership of Narendra Modi. Further, I
enlightened the house regarding the upcoming 50th year of Statehood of Sikkim
in 2025 and I further appealed for further support to Sikkim in order to
realise the mission of ‘Sunaulo and Samriddha Sikkim’ envisioned by our beloved
leader Prem Singh Tamang (Golay),” said Indra Hang.
The NDA
alliance members heartily thanked Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party and its leader
Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) for the unconditional support towards formation of
NDA government and assured to extend topmost priority to Sikkim from the
upcoming Union government, added Indra Hang after the NDA meeting.
Indra Hang
was accompanied to Delhi by a SKM delegation consisting of party’s student wing
coordinator Aditya Golay and press & publicity chief coordinator Bikash
Basnet.
