ITS to act as catalyst for lasting transformation of Sikkim: CM

GANGTOK,: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay has extended his best wishes to the Institute for Transforming Sikkim (ITS), a flagship institutional initiative of the State government.

Envisioned as the intellectual backbone of the State's development journey, ITS is tasked to provide strategic direction, fresh ideas, and renewed momentum through innovative thinking, evidence-based policymaking, and effective, outcome-oriented governance.

Our vision is to build a ‘Sunaulo, Samriddha ani Samartha Sikkim, a Golden, Prosperous and Empowered Sikkim,’ where development is inclusive, opportunities are accessible to all and the aspirations of every citizen translate into meaningful progress, said the Chief Minister on social media on Friday.

He informed that the institute has been conceived as a multidisciplinary think tank and centre of excellence to strengthen strategic planning, promote research and innovation, enhance institutional capacity and facilitate coordinated development across sectors. By bringing together policymakers, experts, researchers, institutions and stakeholders, it will help translate ideas into practical policies, programmes and measurable outcomes.

“I firmly believe that Sikkim's future must be guided by the principles of sustainable development, economic resilience, environmental conservation, technological advancement and social empowerment. Our priorities must encompass agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism, infrastructure, energy, employment, skill development and climate resilience, ensuring that the benefits of growth reach every village, community and household,” said the Chief Minister.

He added that ITS will also play a vital role in strengthening governance, monitoring development initiatives, promoting grassroots-level planning and fostering collaboration among government departments and development partners. Its work must remain rooted in reliable data, innovation and, above all, the needs and aspirations of our people, he said.

“I envision ITS as a dynamic institution of knowledge, policy research and strategic action, contributing to Sikkim's long-term development vision and the national aspiration of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.I call upon all government departments, experts, academic institutions, young professionals, entrepreneurs and citizens to become active partners in this collective endeavour. The transformation of Sikkim is a shared responsibility that demands collective wisdom, commitment and determination,” said the Chief Minister.

“I extend my best wishes to the Institute for Transforming Sikkim and all those associated with this important initiative. May it emerge as a catalyst for lasting transformation and a brighter future for the people of Sikkim,” added the Chief Minister.
