Karate championship promotes local talents

PAKYONG,  (IPR): The Indian Army, in collaboration with the SeishinkaiShito-Ryu Karate-Do of Sikkim, organised a Seishinkai Karate Championship 2025.The matches held at PrernaSthal Memorial in Burdangfeatured vigorous contests among the young participants.

This event aimed to cultivate local talent in karate while fostering principles of sportsmanship and discipline. Along with promoting physical fitness, the activities also reinforce an awareness of camaraderie.

In lieu of training competitors for national and international karate competitions, this competition accentuated Sikkim's expanding potential pool. 

The matches were categorised by age groups between 06-18 years. The daylong event concluded with the recognition of medal winners. 

The young karate practitioners committed to continue honing their skills to represent the state on national and international stages. The local community members and parents also recognised karate as a means of empowering youth and diverting them from negative influences such as screen addiction and substance abuse.

This competition also reaffirmed Indian Army's commitment to inspiring and empowering youth and nurturing talent in sports.
