Sikkim panchayat polls in November

GANGTOK,: The ruling SKM held its 14^th edition of legislators meet at Mintokgang here which was chaired by Chief Minister and party president P.S. Golay.

A press release informs that the SKM legislature party meeting was attended by all the SKM MLAs, MP, advisors, Chief Minister’s political secretary and Chief Minister’s press secretary.

The meeting unanimously passed a resolution to support and vote in favour of NDA Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu in the Presidential election, scheduled to be held on July 18.

On the second agenda, the strategies of the party for forthcoming panchayat elections were thoroughly discussed where the Chief Minister stated that the election will be tentatively held between November 2 and 12.

Attendees in the meet also acclaimed the Chief Minister’s major decision to hold panchayat elections independently, the release mentions.

In the meeting, discussions regarding the upcoming Chalak Diwas, which is scheduled to be held on July 27 were minutely discussed. Similarly, Jan Unmukti Diwas, an official event of the party will be observed grandly and will also witness a mass joining program, the release mentions.

Furthermore, celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was discussed during the meeting and as a part of it, regarding the "Haar Ghar Tiranga" campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inspire Indians to hoist the national flag at their homes, it has been decided that the national flag will be hoisted in every household in Sikkim, the release mentions.
