Upreti maintained that India is matching its shoulders with the rest of the world when it comes to use of technology in governance. Many national digital missions are being rolled out by the Prime Minister out of which e-mail court is setting and exemplary footprint and is counted among the successful missions, he said.
Previously, the complainant had to visit the district commission and State commission for filing of the complaint. They had to manually go to the bank to make a draft to be submitted as court fees and the paper work was very cumbersome, said Upreti.
“With the enactment of Consumer Protection Act, 2019, which has stated specific provision for filing of complaint online, E-Daakhil portal will prove to be a boon to the aggrieved consumers. Now, the court will reach the houses of the complainant wherever you reside in India. Complainants can pay their fees online through UPI, Internet Banking, Debit Card and others,” the minister said.
The benevolent nature of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 shall be appreciated by all in the coming future, added Upreti. He mentioned that the department should organise outreach programmes so that every consumer in Sikkim is aware about E-Daakhil portal.
Earlier, senior technical director and additional SIO of NIC Sikkim, Dr. L.P. Sharma gave a detailed presentation on E-Daakhil portal.
The E-Daakhil portal is a consumer grievance redressal portal. The portal empowers the consumers and their advocates to file consumer complaints along with payment of requisite fees online from anywhere for the redressal of their complaints.
