Sikkim athletes depart for National School Games

A Sikkim contingent for track and field events left for Sangur, Punjab today to participate in the under-17 boys’ and girls’ athletics championship of the 65th National School Games.
The Sikkim contingent comprising of 12 athletes and three officials were flagged-off by Sports secretary Kuber Bhandari today in a see-off programme held at Paljor Stadium here.
Bhandari offered khadas to all the athletes and officials and extended best wishes on behalf of the State government and Sports department.
The athletes were selected from the recently-held State-Level Annual School Sports Competitions 2019-20 organized by Sports department. They are: Yabesh Subba, Sameer Pandey, Rinchen Lepcha, Rahul Darnal, Dev Kant Chawdhary, Yalam Subba, Priya Limboo, Ranjana Tamang, Suchita Rai, Sabana Rai, Rinzing Ongmu Lepcha and Amisha Gurung.
Travelling along with them are coach Tashi Rana, manager Binita Chettri and chef-de-mission Yangchen Pema Bhutia.
