Aakraman Sporting Club clinch second SICA Women’s Club title

GANGTOK,: Aakraman Sporting Club won SICA Women’s Club Tournament 2025 after a convincing six-wicket win over Irises Cricket Club in the final at Sikkim Cricket Ground, Mining on Friday.

Opting to field first after winning the toss, Aakraman restricted Irises to 87-6 in 20 overs. Primula Chettri top-scored with a steady 32, while Tshering Yangden Lepcha and Player of the Match Purni Maya Gurung claimed two wickets each.

Aakraman chased down the target with ease, anchored by a 69-run second-wicket partnership between Purni Maya Gurung (46) and Diki Lhamu Bhutia (23). With the win, Aakraman became the first team to win the tournament twice, having previously lifted the title in 2022. They have also reached the final in all four editions of the tournament.

Organised by Sikkim Cricket Association and sponsored by State Bank of Sikkim, this year’s tournament featured 14 teams and 45 matches.

Aakraman received a trophy and Rs. 2 lakh in prize money, while Irises took home Rs. 1 lakh and a trophy. Samayita Roy Prodhan of Alpine Sporting Club won the Player of the Tournament and Highest Scorer awards, while Menuka Gurung of Denzong Girls’ Cricket Club received the award for highest wicket taker.

SBS managing director Phurba Wangdi Bhutia was the chief guest of the final.
