CBI raid at NBU vice-chancellor’s office, quarter

SILIGURI,: The Central Bureau of Investigation raided the office and residence of North Bengal University vice-chancellor Subires Bhattacharyya in Siliguri today in connection with the cbi investigation into WBSSC recruitment scam.

Bhattacharya, a former chairman of WBSSC, is allegedly involved in teachers’ recruitment scam along with arrested TMC MLA Partha Chatterjee and 12 others.

A team of CBI arrived at North Bengal University campus and Bhattacharya’s quarter today morning at around 10 and started questioning him.

Bhattacharya had recently arrived at NBU and joined office after leave of more than a month. Bhattacharya lives in the government accommodation inside the university campus in Siliguri but his permanent residence is in Kolkata’s Bansdroni area.

Earlier, a CBI team had reached his flat in South Kolkata but it was found locked. After waiting for quite long outside the flat, the CBI team sealed the flat. The CBI officials have also seized Bhattacharya’s mobile phone.

According to sources, CBI may question few more people in North Bengal.

Reports are also coming out that Partha Chattarjee had completed his PhD in Economics from North Bengal University in one year. CBI may also enquire on how the degree was completed in one year.
