Chief Minister takes holy dip at TriveniSangam during Mahakumbh

GANGTOK, :Chief Minister PS Golay on Sunday took a holy dip at TriveniSangam during the ongoing Mahakumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. 

The religious event, which began on January 13 and will continue until February 26, has already drawn millions of devotees from across the country and beyond.

Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers, holds deep spiritual significance for Hindus.

After taking the sacred dip, Golay expressed deep spiritual fulfilment. “Today, I experienced one of the most profound moments of my spiritual journey,” the Chief Minister stated. “As I immersed myself in the pristine waters, a wave of peace and serenity enveloped my being. The touch of Maa Ganga, believed to cleanse one’s sins, was truly a blessing. My prayers ascended with the sacred ripples, seeking health, happiness, and prosperity for all.”

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Speaker, Deputy Speaker, ministers, MLAs, advisors, and mayor, deputy mayor and councillors of GMC. The delegation also comprised pandits, purohits, monks, dignitaries, Sikkim government officials and members of the press and media.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minster Yogi Adityanath for the warm hospitality and praised the arrangements made for the grand spiritual gathering.

“The meticulous planning at the TriveniSangam site was commendable, allowing devotees to partake in this sacred event with ease and devotion,” Golay said.

The MahakumbhMela, hosted in the historically spiritual city of Prayagraj, continues its tradition of attracting vast numbers of pilgrims, both domestically and internationally, reaffirming its status as one of the world's largest religious gatherings.
