GANGTOK, (IPR): Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang flagged-off Seema Darshan programme under Vibrant Village Programme from Ridge Park here today morning. The students also tied rakhi to the Chief Minister during the function.
The Planning & Development department in collaboration with District Administrative Centre- Gangtok, Education department, Health department, Army, ITBP and Hemant Yadav Foundation organised this programme wherein approximately 50 university and college students will visit Nathu La to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with the Army personnel and interact with the public of Tsomgo Vibrant Village.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus on uplifting the last village of the border State and transforming it into a thriving community.
"I extend my gratitude and congratulations to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for his dedication to prioritizing the border villages and striving to create vibrant communities," said the Chief Minister.
Furthermore, he also stressed on the fact that being a border State, Sikkim prioritizes national security and takes a serious approach to their service towards the nation.
The Chief Minister also extended his warm greetings to the people of Sikkim, especially to all the sisters and mothers on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan including the army personnel who are rendering their service dedicatedly for the safety and security of the public.
“As we celebrate this special day, let us also reflect on our collective responsibility to protect and uphold the values of unity, diversity, and brotherhood that are the cornerstone of our society. Just as a sister ties a rakhi on her brother's wrist, signifying her trust and belief in his protection, let us all pledge to protect the harmony and prosperity of our State”, said the Chief Minister.
Secretary, Planning & Development department, Rinzing Chewang Bhutia presented the welcome address mentioning that 26 villages have been identified as vibrant villages in Sikkim.
Highlighting on the exposure tour to Nathu La, the secretary informed that students from various States who are participating in the tour will be tying rakhi to the army personnel and interact with them upon reaching Nathu La.
Earlier, the students tied rakhi to the Chief Minister as a bond of protection, wishing him good health and prosperity throughout.
The programme was attended by Ecclesiastical Affairs and RDD minister Sonam Lama, IT advisor Tenzing Lamtha, GMC Mayor NB Chettri, Deputy Mayor TP Bhutia, GMC councillors, ACS Education R Telang, CM’s secretary SD Dhakal, Education secretary Sumita Pradhan, Health secretary Tshewang Gyachho, Commandant Mukesh Kr Yadav, Sector HQ ITBP, deputy Commandant Avinav Vikash Vardhan, Muralidhar Pai, dean Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok DC Tushar Nikhare, officials and staff of the all the participating departments and organisations.
