Cultural extravaganza marks day six of Khangchendzonga Winter Tourism Festival 2024

GYALSHING, (IPR): The Khangchendzonga Winter Tourism Festival 2024 witnessed colorful cultural dance performances on its sixth day at the school grounds of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Pelling.

The festival is being organized by the Pelling Tourism Development Association (PTDA) in collaboration with the District Administration, Gyalshing, and supported by the Tourism and Civil Aviation Deptt, 14-Singyang-Chumbong GPU, Blue Rings Society (Pelling), hoteliers, local stakeholders, NGOs, and the Samaj of the periphery.

The event was graced by Garap Dorjee Bhutia, BDO Gyalshing, as the chief guest, accompanied by Bhakta Bahadur Karki, Chief Advisor & Founder of PTDA, as the guest of honour.

Also present on the occasion were zilla members, panchayat presidents and panchayat members, Dr. Tsheden Bhutia, Rtd CMO, Ajit Gurung, AGM SSBS, Hissay Zangpo Bhutia, National Awardee, Thanka Painting, Amal Singh Subba, SI Special Branch, Gauri Pradhan Rtd Teacher, officials, and other dignitaries.

Upon arrival, the chief guest was accorded a warm welcome by the organizing committee and later escorted towards the various installed stalls at the festival by Keshav Pradhan, president of PTDA.

The day also witnessed the Futsal Semi Final, where Sindrabung FC defeated PTDA FC in the first match and NCDS triumphed over Sardung United in the second match of the day.

Various stalls exhibiting traditional clothing, ethnic attires, local cuisines, beverages, and antiques provided a vivid glimpse into the cultural and artistic diversity of the area, further enhancing the festival's charm.

A token of love was presented to the chief guest, the guest of honor, and invited special guests. Biren Pradhan was the master of ceremonies.
