PAKYONG,: Chief Minister P.S. Golay has expressed his deep sadness over the deaths of two Sikkim Scouts personnel in a road mishap.
The accident took place on Thursday evening at Dzuluk, Pakyong district.
In his social media page Friday, the Chief Minister shared that he was deeply saddened by the demise of NB/Sub Som Bahadur Subba and LNK Manoj Chettri in the accident.
Subba hailed from Pokhrebong, Mirik in Darjeeling district.
Chettri was from Karongthang, Yangang in South Sikkim.
“They were both jawans of Sikkim Scouts and were on duty when the tragic incident befell. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends and pray for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace,” said the Chief Minister.
According to information available, the mishap took place at Ganesh Dara, Dzuluk under Kupup Police jurisdiction at around 5:30 pm. Foggy and rainy weather condition is said to have caused the accident wherein the Army vehicle went off the road and fell some 300 ft down.
The two Army personnel coming from Dzuluk were supposed to bring back the porters. Fortunately, the porters were returning on foot and had taken shelter in the Ganesh Dara mandir due to fog and rains.
