Khelo India Youth Games: Runner Manoj Biswakarma wins Sikkim’s first individual gold

GANGTOK,: Manoj Biswakarma became the first Sikkimese to win an individual gold medal in Khelo India Youth Games when he won the gold in the men’s 3000-meter event at the 5th edition of the games in Bhopal on Saturday.

The Dentam lad completed 3000 meters with a timing of eight minutes and 36.21 seconds.

The last few years have been nothing less than phenomenal for the Khelo India Centre of Excellence (Gangtok) candidate. Manoj won many medals for Sikkim including this gold and a 3000 metres silver medal in 2nd North East Olympic Games in Shillong.

Manoj is a product of Bright Future Athletic Academy.

Meanwhile, Prava Gajmer has confirmed a bronze medal for Sikkim in women’s boxing.

The Singtam girl crushed an Uttar Pradesh boxer 5-0 in the quarter-final bout.
