GANGTOK,: Lok Sabha MP (Sikkim) Indra Hang Subba met Union Railways minister Ashwini
Vaishnaw, in New Delhi to discuss key railway connectivity projects concerning Sikkim.
During
the meeting, the Lok Sabha MP discussed the Final Location Survey (FLS) of the
proposed railway line from Melli to Dentam. He apprised the Union Minister that
although Sikkim is a small State with a relatively small population, the
proposed railway line would be of immense importance for the people of the State.
He emphasized that the project would significantly improve connectivity in the
region and is also crucial from a national security perspective given Sikkim’s
strategic location.
Indra
Hang also discussed the recently approved Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the
railway line from Rangpo to Ranipool and stressed the importance of its early
implementation. He noted that the timely execution of this project would
further strengthen rail connectivity within the State and benefit the public by
enhancing transportation and accessibility.
The Lok
Sabha MP expressed his gratitude to the Union Railway Minister for his
continued support towards improving railway infrastructure and connectivity in
Sikkim and thanked Ashwini Vaishnaw for his positive response to the issues
raised, a press release on Thursday informs.
