MoS Health visits Gyalshing district

GYALSHING, (IPR): Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, the Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Tribal Affairs, who arrived in Gyalshing on Friday evening for a three-day official tour, on Saturday visited Ayushman Mela at Zilla Bhawan, Kyongsa and chaired a review meeting with district officials.

The meeting had the presence of State Health secretary Dr. A.B. Karki, Gyalshing ADC Khemraj Bhattarai, SP J Jayapandian, SP Gyalshing, NHM mission director, ADC (Dev) Surat Gurung, CMO Dr.Bikash Pradhan, HODs and officials of various departments, medical officers, ASHA workers, students and public at large.

The MoS discussed and took stock of the development in the district under Centrally Sponsored Schemes that are under implementation in the State through various departments such as Health, Tribal Affairs, Education, Agriculture and Horticulture and Rural Development department among others.

She added that various projects are being implemented in Gyalshing district under different government schemes for bringing social and economic development in the area. She also encouraged the students to participate in the sports activities as well.

Further, the MoS underlined the vision of Modi government for holistic development of North East and Sikkim in particular and added that the government has been achieving new milestones in multidimensional sectors under the leadership of the Prime Minister. On the occasion, she also distributed ABHA and PMAY cards to the beneficiaries.

The day long programme also had power point presentation by CMO Dr. Bikash Pradhan, senior welfare officer Bhushan Subba and Thuzang Bhutia from Social Welfare department, deputy project director Bhison Pradhan from Agriculture /Horticulture department, chief Education officer Subbiah G., and Angel Lepcha from Rural Development department.

ADC Khemraj Bhattarai, in his welcome address, highlighted the historical amd cultural heritage of the district besides touching upon the expectation and aspirations of the district in its journey towards Vikshit Bharat.

Earlier on the day, the minister was given guard of honour at Elgin Mount Pandim Hotel by Sikkim Police. Thereafter, she visited Pemayangtse monastery and offered prayers. She also made a brief tour of Sidkeong Tulku Bird Park at Rabdentse.

The MoS also inspected Health and Wellness Centre at Pelling, under-construction ropeway at Sangachoeling besides visiting Chenrezig Sinkham Riwo Potala and skywalk at Pelling.

The MoS praised the developmental activities being undertaken in tourism and other sectors and made several observations and suggestions for fast tracking the project implementation in the district.
