RANGPO,: Sikkim poet Neelam Gurung, who has reached the finale of The Poet Idol, a Nepali poetry reality show, arrived in the State today to meet and thank her supporters ahead of the finale.
A welcome event was organised by Neelam Gurung Support Club under the initiative of Chief Minister’s political secretary Jacob Khaling at  Rangpo today to welcome the poet.
Speaking at the event, Neelam thanked Chief Minister PS Golay, Neelam Gurung Support Club and her supporters from Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Nepal and the entire world for believing in her. “Winning or losing doesn't matter, but I would love to do so something for the future generation in terms of poetry. I hope I become the same Neelam Gurung, a poet, in years to come,” she expressed.
Her father, Dilip Gurung, said, “We are extremely thankful to the CM, the State government and Neelam's supporters. It is good to see many different communities from the region come together to support and vote for Neelam. The grand finale is on April 21, and for the last time we need your support and votes.”
Voting lines are open from Friday 10 pm for an entire week until the grand finale.
“Neelam has spent more than three months in Nepal for Poet Idol. She has come to Sikkim, a week before the grand finale to meet and thank her supporters. Her performance throughout the competition has been amazing and we have no doubt that she will give her best in the finale too, but voting is also equally important and Neelam needs your support. Supporters can vote via Khalti app, but as the voting process is complicated for a layman, her brother Nitesh Tamang can be contacted for further details," said Jacob Khaling.
Additional political secretary to the Chief Minister, Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha informed that ‘Support Neelam Gurung Campaign’ will be conducted at MG Marg from Sunday until the grand finale.
The event at Rangpo had the presence of Film Board chairperson Pooja Sharma, Power advisor Mingma Lhamu, different organisations and supporters.
