Objection to the distortion of Tsong to Chang in the published Article "Communal harmony and political stability"

Dear Editor,

Attention may kindly be drawn to the published article "Communal Harmony and Political stability" by the senior journalist and writer Mr. Bijay Bantawa in Sikkim Express edition of Saturday, 05 April 2025.

The historical peace treaty between indigenous Lepcha/Men, Bhutia/Lho and Limboo/Tsong called "Lho-Men-Tsong Sum Peace treaty" that laid the foundation of the kingdom of Sukhim, has been distorted and misspelled as "Lho-Men-Chang Sum" more than once in the entire article.

The Sukhim Pungwa Yuma Samyo Society strongly objects to the distortion of the name of the indigenous Limboo/Tsong tribe to that of Chang. It can be indirectly seen as threat to change the identity and history of the indigenous Limboo tribe of Sikkim.

Coming from a senior journalist  and writer and getting published in the leading reputed newspaper of your stature, who are well versed with the history of Kingdom of Sikkim, it is unfortunate that such a drastic error has been made.

This has hurt the sentiments of the entire indigenous Limboo/Tsong Tribe and Sukhim Pungwa Yuma Samyo Society would request you to kindly issue a corrigendum on this matter and rectify the distortion made.

Sukhim Pungwa Yuma Samyo Society hopes that action on this matter will be taken up immediately. The Corrigendum issued may kindly be forwarded in the official email address of the society at sukhimpungwa@gmail.com.

Your’s etc,

Bijay Pratap Hang Subba

President,

Sukhim Pungwa Yuma Samyo Society,

Pakyong
