Prakoshta takes 50 patients to Siliguri for free medical treatment

GANGTOK, :Under the care of SKM Party’s Garib Jan Kalyan Prakoshta, 50 patients from different parts of Sikkim have been sent to Siliguri for medical treatment on Sunday. Among them, 18 patients are from Rhenock constituency, while 32 are from Soreng, Gyalshing and Namchi districts.

These patients suffering from kidney and gallbladder stones require urgent surgeries. To ensure they receive the best possible care, they have been taken to North Bengal Medica, Neotia, and Kins Hospitals in Siliguri, a press release informs.

This initiative was taken under the direct guidance of Chief Minister PS Golay with the support of Prabhakar Golay, chief patron of Garib Jan Kalyan Prakoshta.

While Sikkim's hospitals are already well-equipped for such treatments, it was decided to send these patients to Siliguri to reduce the burden on local hospitals and ensure quicker surgeries, keeping in mind the emergency nature of the patients. This step has been taken to ensure that these patients requiring urgent surgeries do not have to wait long which could worsen their condition, the release mentions.

During a recent public interaction program in Rhenock constituency, several patients came forward, requesting financial assistance for their urgent medical treatment. Understanding their difficulties and the urgency of the matter, the Chief Minister immediately took action to facilitate their treatment.

The Garib Jan Kalyan Prakoshta, known for its dedicated efforts in supporting the needy, has taken full responsibility for these patients. Members of the Prakoshta are accompanying them to Siliguri, ensuring they receive proper guidance, care, and completely free treatment.

This is not the first time such an initiative has taken place. In the past, the Prakoshta has actively identified and helped many patients across Sikkim, ensuring that those who cannot afford expensive medical treatments get all the help they need. So far, over 2,000 patients have undergone successful kidney and gallbladder stone surgeries through this initiative.

Patients who are receiving this lifesaving assistance have expressed their deep gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Garib Jan Kalyan Prakoshta for standing by them in their time of need. The Chief Minister remains fully committed to ensuring that no Sikkimese person is deprived of medical care due to financial difficulties, the release mentions.
